LO1 Brief and What makes a good photograph?

Brief

We have been asked to analyse a wide variety of photographers, then in the style with the knowledge of these photographers using photographic techniques and elements in a certain photographic genre create 5 photographs which will be presented in the Millennium Gallery.

What makes a good photograph

There are many different elements to taking a good photograph; there are aspects that are more technical such as Focal Point, composition, resolution and use of colour and depth. But there are also more organic aspects that evoke an emotional response and that tell a story. All these aspects will make a photograph that is appealing to look at, high resolution and strikes an emotional connection. A good composition will add to the overall depth and meaning of the piece. The use of colour and lighting is very important as it highlights certain aspects of the piece that may be of relevance.

In my photography this year, I want to learn how to evoke an emotional response and develop that skill, as it really allows the audience to connect with your piece. I also want to develop my composition, as that adds to the final appearance of the photograph.
